Life Needs include food, shelter, clothing and medical
services. Addiction recovery includes detoxification
referrals, residential recovery program referrals,
and group recovery
sessions onsite. Self-Improvement includes G.E.D.
preparation and computer training.
In the first six months of 2003, Harvest Kitchen has
been active in all three areas.
In the area of Life Needs, 12,982 hot meals were provided
to the homeless, with service for Sunday breakfast,
Sunday dinner, Tuesday lunch, and Wednesday lunch.
During the same six-month period, a free food pantry
provided bagged groceries for over 1000 families in
need. During the six months, Harvest Kitchen also
tested 38 individuals for HIV/AIDS, referring one
testing positive to treatment. Ten individuals were
referred for other medical or dental needs.
There were also a number of Addiction Recovery and
Self-Improvement activities.
