The Harvest Center has served Charlotte’s homeless, needy, and neighborhood children since 1992. Its core activities involve serving hot meals at breakfast and lunch three times a week. 250 individuals are served at a typical lunch and 150 individuals at a typical breakfast. More than 58,000 meals will be served in 2007.
Also, a food pantry serving bagged groceries to over 1,000 families per month is available. New and gently used warm clothing and blankets, educational, job skills, and youth programs are offered. |

HC
utilizes vans to bring those in need from
throughout the urban area to its facility,
a 15,000 square foot building with a commercial-grade
kitchen and a basketball court that doubles
as the dining area. A Christian worship
service usually precedes the meal, since
it is HC’s philosophy that the spiritual
needs of the homeless are as pressing
as are their physical needs. HC’s services,
however, are offered to those in need,
irrespective of religious orientation. |
